Final Week of the American Dream Academy at ASU West was a blast

Last Saturday (October 26th) marked a significant milestone for the American Dream Academy at ASU West, as we concluded our final week with a series of impactful events. This special day brought together students and parents from the Congolese community for sessions on data & statistics and nutrition, equipping them with essential knowledge for their daily lives. The day culminated in a heartfelt graduation ceremony, where participants were celebrated with certificates and $500 for their dedication and hard work in the STEM workshop. To top it all off, we distributed backpacks to all the Congolese students, symbolizing our commitment to their educational journey and future success.

Congolese Field Trip to GCC (Glendale Community College)

On October 9th, the Congolese community embarked on an eye-opening field trip to Glendale Community College (GCC). This special visit was organized to help students and parents learn about the exciting opportunities available in engineering and healthcare programs. The day was filled with engaging presentations, hands-on demonstrations, and inspiring conversations with college students and professors. It was a day of discovery, learning, and connection, highlighting the importance of higher education and the limitless possibilities it offers.

The Mentoring Program by Mwangaza Wa Upendo and ASU

The annual Mentoring Program, a collaborative initiative between Mwangaza Wa Upendo and Arizona State University, is set to kick off again this January. This year, we received an overwhelming number of applications from students eager for guidance and support. After a careful selection process, we are thrilled to announce that seven students from the Congolese community have been chosen as mentees. Each of these students will be paired with a dedicated mentor, who will assist them throughout the school year. This program not only offers invaluable mentorship but also provides each mentee with $150 for working closely with their mentors, fostering a commitment to their academic and personal growth. Stay tuned as we embark on this exciting journey of empowerment and achievement!
